In 2022, Gregson & Weight celebrated 50 Years of Service to Sunshine Coast families. We have four locations across the Sunshine Coast – Caloundra, Buderim, Nambour and Noosaville. With plenty of on-site parking, well-appointed chapels, reception rooms and state of the art audio-visual equipment, our locations can cater for the smallest private service to the largest public memorial.
Our team of dedicated individuals provide quality, caring and personal service to every family. We take care of the details to help you create a fitting farewell. To our people, the funeral industry is more than just a job – it’s a vocation.
We care about value for money and good service as much as you do, so we provide a quality and professional service, at reasonable and fair prices. We believe in transparency and will always provide a written estimate of costs.
While honouring the same values of professional care and integrity set down by our founders in 1892, we strive to innovate and embrace new technology.
As fully accredited members of the Australian Funeral Directors Association, we follow their code of ethics, ensuring the provision of quality premises, facilities, trained professional staff and exceptional service. By adhering to these very high standards, we have built a reputation for funeral excellence.
Gregson & Weight is an Australian operated funeral business. The company began as A.F. Weight & Sons in Horsham, Victoria in 1898, with three generations, Alfred, George & Stanley serving that area until 1948. In 1957, Stanley & Thelma Weight bought a funeral business at Williamstown, Victoria. The business was run by Stanley & Thelma and their son Lawrence, until Lawrence died unexpectedly in 1967, aged only 27.
Their daughter Jeanette (Jan) and her husband John Gregson began working with Stan at Williamstown after Lawrence’s death, until a decision was made to move to the Sunshine Coast. In 1972, Stan, John and their families began Gregson & Weight Funerals in Caloundra to service the small coastal towns. With the tremendous growth in the area since then, Gregson & Weight now have four branches across the Sunshine Coast. Stan Weight passed away in 2008 aged 90, having played an active role in the business until that time. Then, after Jan’s death in 2019, John retired in 2020, leaving son Luke, a 5th generation funeral director, at the helm as General Manager. We saw the end of an era when John Gregson died in August 2023.
Since their beginnings in the days of the horse-drawn hearse, to today’s funeral services live-streamed across the world, Gregson & Weight have been here to support families. Established on the Sunshine Coast since 1972, Gregson & Weight have a proud tradition of providing the best in care, service and facilities. As leaders in the Queensland funeral industry for over 50 years, we take pride in being the Sunshine Coast’s most trusted funeral business.
Gregson & Weight is now part of the network of funeral homes, cremation facilities and cemeteries owned by Propel Funeral Partners. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, Propel Funeral Partners is one of the largest providers of funeral and related services in Australia and New Zealand.
